Nobody Cares if You Smoke Weed (And Science Proves It)

Hold onto your hats, folks, because I’m about to drop some knowledge that might just blow your mind. A groundbreaking study, recently published in the prestigious Journal of Hand Surgery Global Online, has revealed a shocking truth: patients are totally cool with their doctors using cannabis in their free time. That’s right, the very people who rely on their doctors for their health and well-being aren’t batting an eye at the thought of their physician indulging in a little herbal relaxation.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But wait, isn’t cannabis still illegal in most places? And isn’t it a drug that impairs judgment and could potentially put patients at risk?” Well, my dear reader, those are valid concerns. But according to this study, they may not be as big of a deal as we once thought.

You see, the researchers surveyed over 500 patients who had undergone hand surgery and asked them about their thoughts on their doctors using cannabis outside of work hours. And the results were pretty surprising. Over 70% of the patients said they were either “completely comfortable” or “somewhat comfortable” with their doctors using cannabis in their personal lives.

But why? How could patients be okay with their doctors using a substance that is still heavily stigmatized and illegal in many places? Well, it turns out that most patients trust their doctors to make responsible decisions and don’t see cannabis use as a threat to their care.

In fact, many patients even saw it as a positive thing. Some believed that their doctors’ cannabis use could make them more empathetic and understanding, while others saw it as a sign of their doctor’s ability to manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Now, before you start picturing a bunch of doctors lighting up joints in their white coats, let me clarify that this study only looked at cannabis use outside of work hours. And it’s important to note that the majority of the patients surveyed were from states where cannabis is legal for medicinal or recreational use.

But still, this study challenges the traditional view of doctors as straight-laced, buttoned-up professionals who must abstain from any and all “vices.” It shows that patients are more concerned with their doctor’s competence and ability to provide quality care than what they do in their free time.

So, the next time you see your doctor, don’t be surprised if they smell a little bit like weed. And hey, maybe it’s time we start rethinking
